Anyone who's seen Kirk Franklin live knows that he's a powerful entertainer and an animated gospel singer who brings the church and the word with him wherever he goes. Christmas is Franklin's testament to faith and a showcase for some of the finest gospel singers in the Family as they soar through standards such as 'Silent Night' and 'Go Tell It On The Mountain,' along with less familiar fare such as 'Now Behold the Lamb' and 'They Need To Know Him.' Franklin's no gospel purist, however, whether he's charging through a hymn or telling that 'Jesus Is the Reason for the Season.' He interjects R&B and bits of hip-hop phrasing and jazz into the works. All of it makes for a rousing good time, one that almost turns a studio recording into a live front-pew experience that few Christmas records even come close to delivering. Rating: - * This Christmas album has songs with traditional titles. The songs are not done in the traditional way, and I'm not complaining. This guy Kirk Franklin is special. He has written songs, with heart gripping lyrics, and with live arrangements. He has brought together great singers, a great band, and wow! I can't listen without moving to the music. He knows how to pull this off, having lead choirs since the age of 11. This Christmas album is centered on Jesus, not the baby but Jesus the man and His reason for coming to earth. So while I'm moving to the music, I am stirred to "come and adore". Rating: - * I really enjoyed the Christmas CD. I had misplaced my original copy and could not find it anywhere. I purchased another one and I am so happy I did. Rating: - * Kirk Franklin and the Family Christmas Inspirational Christmas music that is a nice change from traditional Christmas songs. Rating: - * This is one of the best gospel Christmas albums of all time. It is on my "must play" list for the holiday season. As mentioned in other reviews, this version of silent night is one of the best I have heard. Sound nothng like the original tune but is still superb. Other standouts are: The night that Christ was born, Go tell it on the mountain and the very touching "Love Song". But the best song on the album is hands down - Now Behold The Lamb. This song will give you goosebumps. It speaks of Jesus's sacrifice when he became the lamb of God to die for our sins. The vocals of Dalon Collins will blow your mind. He is truly gifted. This is a must have for anyone's Christmas collection. Rating: - * I have quite a few gospel Christmas CD's and this is my all time favorite. I have now purchased this CD about 5 times. Every year someone wants to do a song from it and I mistakenly let them have my original never to return again. Best gospel Christmas CD ever recorded. I love it!!!
