Till Death Do Us Part(more) »rank: 105545by: Cypress Hill
:Album Description:Japanese edition of 2004 album features 18 tracks including 2 bonus tracks, 'Ready To Die' & 'Roll It Up Again'. CBS. :Never mind the fact that Cypress Hill's 15 minutes of fame expired around 10 ganja-fueled years ago--Till Death Do Us Part is a solid release from a crew who've largely been written off as a cartoonish novelty act. The South Central cartel has given its signature sound a much-needed overhaul: B-Real has smoothed his trademark nasal whine into a more measured flow that complements DJ Muggs's rejuvenated sound. The underrated producer wisely eschews the rap-metal formula that has made Cypress Hill ... |

The Hard Way(more) »rank: 57076by: 213
:Album Description:Childhood friends Snoop Dogg, Warren G and Nate Dogg started out as a local Long Beach rap group called 213. Their individual careers skyrocketed before they could release an album, and the guys went on to collectively sell more than 50 million albums as solo artists. This is their historical reunion album - 'The Hard Way' :Warren G, Nate Dogg, and Snoop Dogg bring their old 213 crew back together in time for summer picnics and park jams. Though Warren G appears throughout, it's mostly a Dogg's day as Snoop and Nate give the album its gangsta-lean feel. The vibe is strictly ... |

Neighborhood Watch(more) »rank: 126436by: Dilated Peoples
: :L.A.'s underground rap movement has never really gotten the credit it deserves despite spawning a number of incredibly innovative artists. Thanks to two strong major-label releases, Dilated is on the cusp of the mainstream acceptance they deserve, yet they haven't felt the need to water down their sound for scans a la Black Eyed Peas. On their third album, as always, their beats are on point, from the Alchemist-infused 'World on Wheels' to 'This Way,' produced and vocally accessorized by rap's latest 'it' guy Kanye West. Certainly DJ Babu's ability to slice and dice well-produced soul numbers adds a great sonic dimension to ... |

First Come, First Served(more) »rank: 17970by: Dr. Dooom
: :The problem with being recognized as a creative genius is that you've got to live up to it 24/7. Kool Keith was given such a mantle upon the release of the Dr. Octagonecologist album, and it's not something he seems happy about: on the first track of First Come, First Served, he--as Dr. Dooom--kills Octagon. It's the perfect move for Keith, and it sets the tone for the album, which is a mix of humorous tracks ('Neighbors Next Door,' which asks you to imagine having Keith and Jacky Jasper living in the next apartment, and 'You Live at Home with Your Mom') and ... |

Where the NBA Dynasty series (the other initial entry is the slightly meatier Los Angeles Lakers: The Complete History) outdoes Ultimate Jordan is in the six playoff games--one for each year--as they were originally broadcast, minus halftime and commercials. Having the nearly complete game (usually running 90-100 minutes, from the TV introductions to post-game interviews) means you can skip straight to John Paxson's clutch basket or what was expected to be the final shot of Jordan's career. Or you can savor each game in its entirety, all the better to appreciate the artistry of Jordan in his three-pointer barrage against Portland or his "flu game" against Utah. You can see other great players too, of course, including Jordan's teammates--Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman--and those opponents unfortunate enough to face the Bulls--Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Karl Malone, and others. Because these are all NBA Finals games, you won't see Jordan's shot over Craig Ehlo or his 63-point coming-out party against Boston, but the 1990s Chicago Bulls were a team for the ages, and merely having their games--some of them all-time classics--available for home viewing is a major milestone in archived sports. --David Horiuchi

While last-minute heroics tend to be the standard by which we define excellence, there are many other moments that have left an indelible impression, many of them highlighted here. The video clips fall into 10 categories: Dunks, Alley-oops, Assists, Steals, Blocks, Teamwork, the Clutch Shot, Moves, Hustle, and Buzzer-Beaters. At the beginning of each section is a brief introduction. Before showing the top 10 dunks of all time, for example, we learn about the evolution of the dunk--from the first slam to the man who could fly, Michael Jordan--and we hear background commentary from NBA legends such as Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Dr. J, and Bill Russell. This video recalls familiar moments of NBA lore that you will want to own for countless repeat viewings. --Jeremy Storey
