Rating: - * Wonderful Weird Al ... Perfect Gen-X humor! I laugh every time I watch these videos, and I've watched them several times. I'm grateful his irreverent humor is mostly G or PG rated, as opposed to most of the "anything goes" programming on most TV stations. Weird Al is clever with his humor, the music is as about as close to the real version as you can get without being sued, and he never fails to entertain. Look for the palindromes in "Bob." They'll amaze you! Younger generations may not understand the humor, but the Gen X-ers and Baby boomers will howl with side-splitting laughter. Long live Weird Al! Rating: - * great music videos ... It is a great collection of his very unique movie videos. They were great to watch. Rating: - * The best of Al ... I've been a Weird Al fan since I was a kid listening to, and eating up, "Eat it," "Fat," "Living with a hernia," and all the rest. I would go to MTV and jump up and down when AL TV came on. Ok, maybe I'm too "White and nerdy," but I and my kids love this DVD. It brings together the entire scope of Al's career, from the Dr. Demento days to the high tech "All about the pentiums." Lots of good clean fun. Rating: - * Weird Al at his best ... A great collection of Weird Al's best work. I'd recommend this DVD to every Weird Al fan. Rating: - * very entertaining! ... This compilation DVD is hilarious. It's great on so many levels. As an adult, I remember all the original songs that Weird Al parodied; and that makes it even funnier. My five year old saw "like a surgeon" on totally 80's vh1 classic and thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen - and he has no idea who Madonna is! I bought this DVD with him in mind - and he watches it over and over and over. I have Weird Al on karaoke, my son can't read, but he can sing every word in "fat". My seven year old daughter enjoys it as well; as do my husband and myself. We got our money's worth on this one! |

The two-disc set also includes The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon: A 10th Anniversary Special. In this 40-minute adventure, Dr. Yung invites Misty and Ash to take part in a special tournament on his new battle system. Yung creates formidable Mirage Pokémon from raw data, culminating in a super-version of Mewtwo, the powerful psychic Pokémon from the first features. Once again, friendship and kindness triumph over greed and arrogance, although the special ends with the words, "To be continued..." (Unrated, suitable for ages 8 and older: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon

Its unlikely that the full impact of the live performances will hit home to viewers unfamiliar with Jay-Z and his Roc-A-Fella Records stable of artists. Another frustration is trying to identify the array of visitors who trade raps on Jays stage. Included in the star-studded lineup are Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown, Pharell, Ghostface Killah, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, and R. Kelly. One unmistakable figure--and we do mean figure--is Jays squeeze Beyonce, who raises the temperature and the roof with her skimpy outfit, flowing hair, soulful yowl, and sexed-up dance routine that leaves her boyfriend and the whole of Madison Square Garden slack-jawed with animal desire.
Twenty cameras captured the event, and some of the most powerful sequences are sweeping moves across the swirling, blissed-out masses as they lip sync along in perfect unison with Jay-Zs complex, profane, quick-witted raps. Less effective are intermittent cutaway segments that show the artist in various studio settings working up beats and rhymes. These amateurish home video breaks may give some insight to Jays perfectionism and dedication to his craft, but they detract from the visceral power of the beautifully executed performance footage. --Ted Fry
