Two Worlds(more) »rank: 99326by: ATB
: :Another entry in the dance crossover race, ATB's (otherwise known as DJ Andre Tanneberger) music has always run on the easy-to-swallow side of the dance-music spectrum. Still, this double CD (especially the first disc) occasionally veers into easy-listening boredom or outright dance-pop cheese. While his best-known songs have been energetic and fiery (such as the 1999 party-starter 9 P.M.), this album only sporadically finds the trance-like wash of beats and melody that truly compel the masses to take the dance floor with gusto. Not that it's all like that, of course. The amazing 'Hypnotic Beach' swirls twisting, mesmerizing, happy hardcore glitter ... |

: :Originally released in 1997, this record showcases the transformation of Juno Reactor from a dance/trance style orientation to more aggressive thematic styles and a more diverse range of influences such as pop and world. The music still retains the high BPM's and unique custom sounds as before, but moves away from the repetitious styling associated with conventional trance acts. |

Bliss(more) »rank: 121579by: Various Artists
: :From the first heavily produced notes of 'Fault Lines' from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's collaboration with Michael Brook, Bliss dances lightly into a relaxing exercise in musical solitude. Several interesting and notable artists are included in this quilt of choice songs plucked from already-released albums. Among the more interesting of the synthed tunes are Sarmila Roy's 'Svetasvatara Upanisad,' emitting an eerie, lovely color rooted in Indian classical music; the nocturnal and darkly soothing 'Mekong' from Jam Nation; and Sheila Chandra's 'Excerpt from ABoneCroneDrone,' featuring long, thick synth under her delicate, exotic voice. Holding up the slightly livelier tone of the album's ... |

Critics and audiences didn't seem too happy with Back to the Future, Part II, the inventive, perhaps too clever sequel. Director Zemeckis and cast bent over backwards to add layers of time-travel complication, and while it surely exercises the brain it isn't necessarily funny in the same way that its predecessor was. It's well worth a visit, though, just to appreciate the imagination that went into it, particularly in a finale that has Marty watching his own actions from the first film. --Tom Keogh
Shot back-to-back with the second chapter in the trilogy, Back to the Future, Part III is less hectic than that film and has the same sweet spirit of the first, albeit in a whole new setting. This time, Marty ends up in the Old West of 1885, trying to prevent the death of mad scientist Christopher Lloyd at the hands of gunman Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson, who had a recurring role as the bully Biff). Director Zemeckis successfully blends exciting special effects with the traditions of a Western and comes up with something original and fun. --Tom Keogh
