Rating: - * If the Apostle Paul was from Philly and knew how to rap... ... ...he would go by the pseudonym, The Ambassador. The Cross Movement are practically modern day apostles and evangelists. They have taken Jesus and his message to the foreign world known as "Hip Hop Culture". The Ambassador, who lives up to his impeccable reputation as a qualified and learned theologian, really challenges us to mature beyond the simple matters of the faith and to grow into a greater understanding of God, Jesus, and their Holy Word. As a "young man" (early 30's so I am somewhat a contemporary of the Ambassador) who is a life long member of a southern Pentecostal/ Holiness church I remember hearing the older Christians repeatedly telling us that..."It costs something to live this holy life. You might have to give up your friends." Or they would often say..."This is a suffering way." This is a message taught by Jesus himself but is rarely emphasized in many churches today. It was so refreshing to hear The Ambassador's song, "Cost" which addresses this very issue of personal self sacrifice that is involved in being a true disciple of Christ. There is so much more that I could say, but in the interest of space and time, let me just say that I greatly appreciate this cd and the ministry of the Ambassador, The Cross Movement, and their proteges...Trip Lee, Da' Truth, Lecrae, 116 Click, etc. Rating: - * Siiiick ... Sick album, but what do you expect? Beats are sick, lyrics are true to the Gospel. I love the concept. Milk to meat!!! Let's chop it up! Rating: - * THE GOSPEL PREACHED THROUGH HIP-HOP!!!!! ... This album is executed with master craftsmenship from a master emcee ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!!! I personally enjoy listening to The Ambassador because I know he is original in style, and very serious about communicating CHRIST'S message with biblical proof to back it up. With Hip-Hop being more and more violent, sexual, perverse, and anti-Christian, its good to hear music coming out that challenges us as youth to GET RIGHT AND LIVE HOLY!!! The way I see it, if he can do it, I can do it. We all have similar vices, especially Hip-Hoppers!!! But if we sacrifice within ourselves our own personal sins and desires, and put Christ First in our lives, we will reach the full happiness and prosperity God wants for us! I know its hard brothas and sistas in Christ, but we have to see past what this world has to offer. Everyday people do things to gain worldly fame, but they bear no spiritual fruit. Let us spread the word of God with integrity and discipline!!!! The youth listened to 50 Cent because they knew he made good music, but they knew he was really the thug that he proclaimed to be. Now how much greater will the youth listen to us who really live according to what Christ preached to the disciples? Lets not be studio Christians. Lets change the world!!!! CHRIST UP |

Continuing a fortuitous tradition of capturing the Sondheim legacy on video recordings, this performance was filmed before a live audience in Los Angeles during the 1982 national tour. Almost 20 years later, Hearn returned to the role opposite Patti LuPone in an acclaimed concert production. But Sweeney Todd is an especially compelling experience in this 1982 version, complete with the clever staging tricks (e.g., the barber's chair) and as close to the original cast as we're likely to see. --David Horiuchi
