Music : The Best Tango Album in the World, Ever! |

Rating: - * Lots of Variety ... It's not the Best Tango Album in the World Ever! But it's pretty darn good. This is NOT an album where all the songs sound the same; there is a remarkable variety in the song selection. You'll hear everything from vocals, like Gardel's Volver, to Fuga Y Misterio performed by The 12 Cellists of the BPO, a strange but enchantingly beautiful selection. I highly recommend this album, but there are two reasons you might not want to buy it. First, if you already own "Buenos Aires by Night" (EMI Odeon) you'll find that eleven of the songs appear on both albums, so look for an album without so much overlap. Second, if you are looking for tango dance music, you'll find that the tempo on many of the songs is not even enough to use for International Ballroom Tango or American Social Tango. A talented tanguero could pull off Argentine tango to several of the selections, however. For dancing the tango, I would recommend Bailemos Tango!: A Century of Tango on the Dance Floor (Rhino) by various artists or La Melodia De Nuestro Adios (El Bandoneon) by Francisco Canaro, both of which are traditional tango music. For more contemporary, club style tangos, try Lecons de Tango (Milan Music/WEA Corporation) by various artists. It contains a lot of upbeat, even tempoed "electronic mixes" so you'll either love it or hate it. Rating: - * Solid Mix ... I didn't like some of the tracks, because the bordered upon the sedate. I like a strong beat that inspires me to dance, and this set largely delivers. If you are looking for your first tango CD, this one will not disappoint. Rating: - * Great Tango Music ... Needed a CD of tango music to practice ballroom dancing and this one is perfect. Rating: - * Best Tango Album ... I love tango music but unfortunately this album has only about two good numbers. The rest are the type that end up grinding on your ears. Rating: - * Excellent CD ... Tango music seems hard to find, expeccially of such ggod quality. Happy to have found "The Best Tango Album in the World, Ever!", now to the dance floor!! |
