Rating: - * An excellent dvd and concert! ... Not only did I get this video, but I managed to attend one of the concerts on that tour (Indianapolis - about a month after this was filmed). Both were excellent!!! I have no complaints of what is on the video, although there were some things in the concert that were left out - most notably the song 'The Alter and the Door' which Casting Crowns opened the concert I was at with. However, everything on this dvd/cd is excellent and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Christian music. Although that one aspect leaves room for improvement, I highly recommend this as well as all their other products. I especially love that their live dvd's (this one as well as Live from Atlanta and Lifesong Live) come with cd's of it as well, because I usually prefer to listen to live music. Rating: - * Best Christian Music DVD ever produced to date! ... Talk about a great bang for the buck. This is a DVD of songs captured live in true HDTV 1080 24p quality. The songs from the Altar and The Door cd and a couple of other past great songs. The bonus features are the best I have ever seen for a Christian project. You get to see the familes of the band. See the setup of the stage. Listen to Mark share some bible studies for some of the songs. The "Slow Fade" conceptual video is included besides the live songs. Only complaint I wish the hits from the other albums was on the DVD but I am sure they will be released one day! Oh and the bonus of a CD of all the songs so you can enjoy in your car! Rating: - * just like at the concert ... I purchased this CD just after attending a Casting Crowns concert. The CD sounds just like the concert - great. Rating: - * CASTING CROWNS THE ALTAR & THE DOOR LIVE ... "IT'S WHAT GET'S ME GOING, & REMINDS-ME OF HOW CLOSE WE ARE, TO THE SECOND COMING." |

Marie opens the show with an outdoor rendition of "We Need a Little Christmas" and then moves into the studio where Kirk Cameron arrives on a snowmobile (fresh from rescuing a trio of blonde snow bunnies) to read "The First Christmas Story." Lee Greenwood performs "Christmas to Christmas" and later a duet with Marie. "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" is sung by Sally Struthers and daughter with help from the Osmond Boys--six stepping stones ages 4 to 12 who have the senior Osmonds' moves down pat. The adorable award, though, goes to Marie's 5-year-old son, Steven, who performs a rockin' version of "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" (clapping on the off-beat nearly the whole song).
Marie has a good, strong voice, but many of the songs are overproduced and melodramatic. This, most likely, is a product of the big, pouffy '80s (her hair and outfits are also bigger-than-life) rather than a reflection of her talents. The closing number, "O Holy Night," sung by Marie alone, is quite lovely. --Dana Van Nest
