Rating: - * Insomniacs, look no further! ... I had first heard of Peggy Cappy on PBS where her Yoga for the Rest of Us DVD was being sold, so I looked into that on Amazon.com and found this CD. I have difficulty falling asleep, usually due to the inability to "turn off" my thinking. I figured I'd see if this CD would help, and I have used the CD every night since, for about the past two weeks. The 1st track is a welcome message, the 2nd gives instructions on preparing yourself to relax, the 3rd walks you through achieving relaxation, then at the end pulls you out (if you haven't fallen asleep!), and the 4th relaxes you to a full sleep. I start with track #3 and can honestly say that I always fall asleep during that track. Peggy's voice is so soothing and relaxing that even if you're not listening to what she's actually saying, just the sound of her voice puts you to sleep. I highly recommend this CD for anyone who is serious about achieving complete relaxation but has a hard time doing so on their own. Rating: - * great cd ... While this cd is obviously tailored towards a stress filled society and is to be recommended for that I personally enjoy the relaxing music of [...] The two cds I possess have a variety of stunning sounds tailored towards the relaxation market which I can recommend anyone looking into this particular genre. These cds are highly recommended Rating: - * A SURPRISE RESULT ... I'm an old guy with trouble sleeping. I've tried everything from getting up to read, making a sleep diary and sleep drugs: nothing really worked. When I saw this audio I thought "why not." I ripped it to a playlist on my iPod Nano. That same night, unable to get to sleep as usual, I gave it a try. The recording has two relaxation routines but I was still awake after the first one: it claims it's designed to make you sleep. The Nano jumped automatically to the second recording in the playlist. When that happened I thought "this just isn't working!" But I decided to stick with it anyway and concentrated on following along with what she was saying. The next thing I knew I was waking up. A rather surprising result, given the chronic nature of my inability to fall asleep and stay asleep. The only thing missing is an audio of Peggy Cappy's "Yoga for the Rest of Us" that I can put on my "pod" and take along on trips. Rating: - * Okay, it works! ... Having enjoyed Peggy Cappy's yoga tapes for years, it was just natural to "try" this new work. I have yet to remain awake for the entire CD! Thinking it is just me, I've let friends try it and they too have fallen off into a blistful sleep. With all of the stresses of each day and the need for proper rest, this is a wonderful tool on "those nights" when sleep is so elusive! |

Continuing a fortuitous tradition of capturing the Sondheim legacy on video recordings, this performance was filmed before a live audience in Los Angeles during the 1982 national tour. Almost 20 years later, Hearn returned to the role opposite Patti LuPone in an acclaimed concert production. But Sweeney Todd is an especially compelling experience in this 1982 version, complete with the clever staging tricks (e.g., the barber's chair) and as close to the original cast as we're likely to see. --David Horiuchi
