:Album Description:Japanese-only SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) paper sleeve pressing of this classic 1981 album. SHM-CDs can be played on any audio player and delivers unbelievably high-quality sound. You won't believe it's the same CD! Universal. 2008. :A regular fixture on the pop charts throughout the '70s, the Moody Blues roared into the '80s with this tremendously successful record. In fact, the album sounds only slightly different than its predecessors; the synthesizer textures are heavier (thanks to former Yes keyboardist Patrick Moraz), but the band's flair for catchy, melodic compositions is still very much in evidence. In retrospect, songs like 'The Voice,' 'Talking ... |

Phoenix(more) »rank: 6975by: Asia
: :Asia’s eponymously titled debut album in 1982 was both ecstatically received and the biggest selling album of the year. Rising from the ashes in 2008, the Multi-Platinum Supergroup Asia returns with 'Phoenix,' the first new album featuring the original line up in 25 years. Hi Infidelity(more) »rank: 3572by: REO Speedwagon
: :After nearly a decade struggling through the midwest rock wars, REO Speedwagon landed on the top of the charts with this incredibly mainstream collection of power ballads and economic hard rock. As its name suggests, the band's strongest attribute is its inconspicuous nature. You never see it coming. Kevin Cronin has a serviceable voice and Gary Richrath is a solid if unspectacular lead player. 'Keep On Loving You' was the huge hit and it sets the pattern for the power ballads that would take many a hard rock band to the top of the charts throughout the '80s. Other notable tracks are 'Don't ... |

Styx - Caught In The Act: Live 1984(more) »rank: 12532starring: Styx, Dennis DeYoung, James Young, Tommy Shaw, John Panozzo
: :Studio: Uni Dist Corp (music) Release Date: 12/11/2007 |

The real joy of the set, however, is nine NBA playoff games presented as they were originally broadcast and almost in their entirety. They last about 90-100 minutes with TV introductions and post-game interviews, but minus halftime, commercials, and some slower moments. The games include such absolute classics as the game in which rookie Magic Johnson started at center in place of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and the 1987 "baby hook" game against the Boston Celtics. If you're used to watching current NBA games you might be tempted to just skip to the end, but it's surprisingly rewarding to watch the game develop, to watch the game's superstars strut their stuff (or see a couple of 1972 reserves named Phil Jackson and Pat Riley), and to observe how radically the sport has changed over the years. Variable picture quality and technical glitches are unavoidable (even the 2002 game looks washed out), but this is the first time complete or nearly complete NBA games have been available in the home-video era, and they probably still look better than the VHS tapes you've been saving over the years. Yes, it'd be easy to argue about which games from the Lakers' long history should have been included, and the highlight videos don't have a ton of replay value, but the NBA Dynasty series is a major milestone in archived sports. --David Horiuchi
