: :Iceland's answer to Limp Bizkit, Korn, and Linkin Park, Quarashi's rock-rap-industrial hybrid usually makes for bad rap and even worse rock, but the mix works on Jinx for reasons unknown. The group's Fred Durst rap-metal shtick ('Stick 'Em Up,' 'Weirdo') is a bit tired, but its Beastie Boys-style eclecticism ('Mr. Jinx,' 'Baseline') flips a catchy cornucopia of horn, guitar, and xylophone samples. Certainly, when Quarashi pull out all of their experimental stops on 'Tarfur,' a percussion-heavy funk track that's recorded in Icelandic, or 'Dive In,' a techno ballad crooned by the band's jack-of-all-trades Hössi Olafsson, the results are fun. Move over Björk and ...

: :Should Epic Records be blamed or thanked for splitting this massive collection into separate segments for the tie-die set and the moshing crowd? Isn't Woodstock about merging musical styles into one love fest? Well, here we have the red disc, which offers a relentless attack from metal- and punk-influenced bands such as Offspring, Lit, and Limp Bizkit. The opening track is a huge, roaring version of Korn's 'Blind,' and the disc closes with warnings about the fire that ended the festival, as the Red Hot Chili Peppers burst into Jimi Hendrix's 'Fire.' Rage Against the Machine's 'Bulls on Parade,' Buckcherry's AC/DC-influenced 'Lit Up,' ...

by: Linkin Park

:Album Description:2003 follow-up to the eight-times-platinum in the US debut, Hybrid Theory, promises to be one of the biggest albums of the year. Enhanced CD packaged in a digipak. WB. :Linkin Park’s second studio effort (not counting the 2002 remix album Reanimation) overflows with glossy production values and Big Rock oomph, fully embracing the pop instincts of their Hybrid Theory debut. For many, Theory sounded inexcusably corporate, from its too-timely rap-rock sound to the long list of product endorsements included in the liner notes. Meteora will only amplify those complaints, but this album is actually truer to the band’s nature. It’s still impossible ...

Beyonce's London fans go crazy when the Destiny's Child beauty, on her first solo international tour, descends to a massive stage while suspended, upside down, from a wire. After a delicate landing, the star embarks on a set of recent hits immersed in complicated arrangements, including the Arabic sound of "Baby Boy" and "Naughty Girl," the chunky, hypnotic funk of "Hip Hop Star," and Beyonce: Live at Wembley's best performance, the powerful "Work It Out," in which the diva is at her clearest, jazziest, and most soulful. Not everything works. The bottom falls out of "Gift from Virgo," "Be with You" is forgettable, and Beyonce's stage patter needs polish. But a Destiny's Child medley accompanied by only a DJ is innovative and fun, "Summertime" proves a breezy dance number, and "Crazy in Love" is bolstered by what sounds like the old Stax horns. A CD featuring a few remixes is included with the DVD. --Tom Keogh
