Between The Buttons (UK)(more) »rank: 9952by: The Rolling Stones, Rolling Stones
:Album Description:Once known as hard-core blues/R&B traditionalists, the Stones plunged deeper into the waters of original songwriting on BETWEEN THE BUTTONS, leading to a golden age of classic albums including LET IT BLEED, BEGGAR'S BANQUET and EXILE ON MAIN STREET. BUTTONS was also the last album produced by then-manager/svengali Andrew Loog Oldham. More importantly, the obscure songs on this tight package show the Stones coming into their own as composers. Between the melodic balladry of 'Back Street Girl' and Mick Jagger's Dylanesque inflections on 'She Smiled Sweetly,' BUTTONS found the Stones in a strata far beyond covering Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly. Although ... |

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus(more) »rank: 26738by: The Rolling Stones
: : Rolling Stones Photos Amazon.com:Conceived in late-'60s London, this literal three-ring would-be 'television spectacular' featuring the Stones and a select cadre of friends and associates became (along with the Beach Boys' Smile album and Bob Dylan's Albert Hall concert) one of the era's greatest unreleased projects. When it finally surfaced in the late '90s, those overinflated expectations all but guaranteed it a tepid response. Legend has it that the Stones originally nixed it because they felt overshadowed by the Who, but it's likely the shelving had more to do with the band's then-unsettled state of affairs. The Stones' raw, powerful set here both ... |

:Album Description:Limited edition of their 1997 album in a special package: astandard jewel case within an etched clear & silver slipcasethat accentuates the graphic of the lion on the cover art.Contains 13 tracks, including the singles 'Anybody Seen MyBaby?' and 'Saint Of :It's no use comparing Stones albums to Exile on Main St. anymore; the world's greatest rock & roll band clearly substitutes finances for passion these days. But compared to, say, Soul Asylum or the Black Crowes, the band still produces worthwhile records--'Flip the Switch,' 'Out of Control,' and the closing Keith Richards suite all give Bridges the edge over the Stones' ... |

The Doors Box Set(more) »rank: 29123by: The Doors
: :\N :Unlike many a box-set retrospective, this 1997 four-CD collection is clearly tailored for Doors aficionados rather than those curious but not overly familiar with the legendary '60s band's career and oeuvre. The first three discs are filled with previously unreleased live tracks and other rarities, such as the band's early demos, which found them slowly building a foundation stemming from each member's clear strengths and influences: Manzarek's classical background, Densmore's jazz, Krieger's rock, and Morrison's blues. Disc 4 features 'band favorites' rather than hits, per se, and thus continues the insider tone taken by the compilation. Once you're inside, though, the ... |

DVD features
Yes, the unrated edition of The Dukes of Hazzard has nudity... but no, it's not of Jessica Simpson, but topless sorority girls. There are also two sets--"PG-13" and "unrated"--of deleted scenes and bloopers. The four minutes of unrated deleted scenes (supplementing the 25 minutes of "PG-13" deleted scenes) include more sorority girls and a menage à trois for Johnny Knoxville . The five minutes of unrated bloopers (the same amount as the "PG-13" bloopers) feature a few more girls but mostly bad language. Featurettes discuss the Daisy Duke short shorts (and show how you can make your own), car stunts, and the making of the movie (narrated by a cast member of the original TV series). --David Horiuchi
