The Köln Concert(more) »rank: 2218by: Keith Jarrett
:Album Description:Limited edition Japanese pressing of the 1975 album comes packaged in an LP sleeve. ECM. 2005. essential recording:A musical chameleon, pianist Keith Jarrett was at his finest when he recorded these sustained solo improvisations in a German concert hall in 1975, the first lasting 26 minutes, the second 40. Melodies and rhythmic figures arise fluidly from his fingers as he moves from one idea to another, while his strong left hand is often used for repeated motifs that generate a rolling hypnotic power. This couples with strongly consonant harmonies to impart the flavor ... |

Kelly Peters: Make It Happen - Hip Hop(more) »rank: 5642starring: Make It Happen-a Hip Hop Dance Video
:Description:If you want to learn Hip Hop, Kelly Peters will Make It Happen for you! Kelly’s 'One Step at a Time' teaching method introduces new production techniques that make it easy to learn even the hardest moves. It’s simple to follow because he reverses the picture, so it’s just like looking at a dance studio mirror. As a result, when Kelly says 'Go right', he moves to your right! He also takes time to break the movements down, very slow, so you don’t have to keep rewinding and he uses lots of close ups, slow ... |

Urban Cowboy: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack(more) »rank: 2477from: Denon Records
: :The aim was to do for country what Saturday Night Fever did for disco. The result was that bars from Kona to Kalamazoo suddenly had mechanical bulls, and slickers walking around in cowboy hats. You might also pinpoint this as the moment in time when 'country' music suddenly went cosmopolitan, paving the way for Garth Brooks. Johnny Lee's 'Lookin' for Love' was one of the decade's biggest singles, and this album briefly made a star of Mickey Gilley (whose Texas club provided a home for that alpha bull). Fans of Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffet, the ... |

The Miles Davis and Gil Evans: Complete Columbia Studio Recordings(more) »rank: 32626by: Miles Davis, Gil Evans
: :From their first work together on the Birth of the Cool sessions in 1949, Miles Davis and Gil Evans forged a unique relationship as great soloist and brilliant arranger. The real opportunity to explore their shared vision didn't come until 1957, however, when Davis had forged a relationship with a major record label able to support it. Though a product of the big-band tradition, Evans was never limited by sectional voicings and riffs. He had an interest in unusual instrumentation and a talent for creating subtle mixes of distinct voices, adding French horns, oboe, bassoon, ... |

Delta Sleep System(more) »rank: 2481by: Dr. Jeffrey D. Thompson
:Album Description:There are several stages of sleep which people pass through in the course of a good restful night. In each stage our sleep gets deeper, our bodies gets more relaxed and our brainwave patterns slow down. The deepest and most rejuvenating levels of sleep are associated with Delta brainwave patterns. Delta sleep is the most physically relaxed stage of sleep and is the time when the body recuperates and rebalances itself for the new day. Getting enough sleep, but more specifically enough Delta Sleep, is essential for healthy, productive living. Dr. Jeffrey Thompson’s breakthrough ... |

The real joy of the set, however, is nine NBA playoff games presented as they were originally broadcast and almost in their entirety. They last about 90-100 minutes with TV introductions and post-game interviews, but minus halftime, commercials, and some slower moments. The games include such absolute classics as the game in which rookie Magic Johnson started at center in place of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and the 1987 "baby hook" game against the Boston Celtics. If you're used to watching current NBA games you might be tempted to just skip to the end, but it's surprisingly rewarding to watch the game develop, to watch the game's superstars strut their stuff (or see a couple of 1972 reserves named Phil Jackson and Pat Riley), and to observe how radically the sport has changed over the years. Variable picture quality and technical glitches are unavoidable (even the 2002 game looks washed out), but this is the first time complete or nearly complete NBA games have been available in the home-video era, and they probably still look better than the VHS tapes you've been saving over the years. Yes, it'd be easy to argue about which games from the Lakers' long history should have been included, and the highlight videos don't have a ton of replay value, but the NBA Dynasty series is a major milestone in archived sports. --David Horiuchi
