Out of the Cradle(more) »rank: 8447by: Lindsey Buckingham
: :Out of the Cradle is the kind of adult rock record that gets lost in a marketplace that caters only to a younger audience. Buckingham developed his songwriting and production skills as the most-valuable-player in Fleetwood Mac, but as a solo artist he's proven to be a bit too arty for the mass audience he'd won as a member of Mac. Out of the Cradle is a sumptuously recorded labor of love that's as thick with guitars as it is with intricate vocal harmonies. 'Surrender the Rain,' billowing with voices, suggests an arty take on the Beach Boys, while 'Soul Drifter' rocks to ... |

Passion and Warfare(more) »rank: 9887by: Steve Vai
: :The second solo album from Steve Vai shows the guitarist coming into his own as a composer, matching his prodigious talent as a performer. The result is an entertaining mix. The hilarious 'Audience is Listening' complements more reflective pieces such as 'For the Love of God.' The high-powered 'Animal' and 'Greasy Kid's Stuff' are balanced by 'Blue Powder' and 'Alien Water Kiss.' Unlike most guitar-god solo recordings, Passion & Warfare avoids the sort of technical noodling that is uninteresting to everyone except other guitarists, opting instead for a collection of high-quality music that is full of compositional experimentation without ever getting out of ... |

Journeyman(more) »rank: 17303by: Eric Clapton
:Album Description:180-gram deluxe edition pressing of Eric Clapton's 1989 album. Reprise. :Released immediately following the elaborate Crossroads box set, Journeyman is EC's way of feigning humility while cranking out the blues for his attentive audience. Featuring the help of famous sidemen George Harrison, Phil Collins, Robert Cray, Chaka Khan, and David Sanborn, Journeyman is less a superstar romp than a moderate collection of songs tastefully produced and economically performed. Flashes of Clapton's lead work burst through while his singing remains modest. The cover of 'Before You Accuse Me' is heartfelt and while Clapton may at this point be incapable of delivering the down ... |

OU812(more) »rank: 8500by: Van Halen
: :Having proven its Sammy Hagar-led lineup a success with 5150, Van Halen followed that effort with OU812, an album that, despite its cheesy title, is every bit its predecessor's equal, burning with balls-to-the-walls hard rock that never leaves its pop sensibility far behind. From the sweeping power ballad 'When It's Love' and the full-on rocker 'Finish What Ya Started,' to the stringbending showcases 'A.F.U. (Naturally Wired)' and 'Cabo Wabo' and even an uncharacteristic cover (of Little Feat's 'A Apolitical Blues'), Eddie, Alex, Michael, and Sammy play with abandon and a palpable sense of fun. --Daniel Durchholz |

DVD features
Yes, the unrated edition of The Dukes of Hazzard has nudity... but no, it's not of Jessica Simpson, but topless sorority girls. There are also two sets--"PG-13" and "unrated"--of deleted scenes and bloopers. The four minutes of unrated deleted scenes (supplementing the 25 minutes of "PG-13" deleted scenes) include more sorority girls and a menage à trois for Johnny Knoxville . The five minutes of unrated bloopers (the same amount as the "PG-13" bloopers) feature a few more girls but mostly bad language. Featurettes discuss the Daisy Duke short shorts (and show how you can make your own), car stunts, and the making of the movie (narrated by a cast member of the original TV series). --David Horiuchi
