: essential recording:Spanning 30 years and encompassing 38 tracks, including some rescued from the vaults, this anthology of Miss Ross's solo output is essential for any diva wannabe. The hits alone will keep a fan satisfied. And what hits: 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough,' 'Reach out and Touch,' 'Theme from Mahogany,' the still sublime 'Love Hangover,' the endlessly sampled and still funky 'Upside Down,' and 'Good Morning Heartache' from Lady Sings the Blues, are just a few of the jewels in Ross's musical crown. Among the rarities that help make this collection a treat is a previously unreleased cover of Laura Nyro's wise ...

: essential recording:Motown had little idea what to do with the young Stevie Wonder, as this remaster of his first Greatest Hits album makes plain. A (great) novelty instrumental, 'Fingertips, Part 2,' provided Wonder's first hit in 1963, so the company's production line ran the concept into the ground with campy pieces like 'Hey Harmonica Man' and 'Work Out Stevie, Work Out.' Fortunately, the selections here also include the killer singles that appeared after his work righted itself: 'Uptight (Everything's Alright),' 'I Was Made to Love Her,' and Dylan's 'Blowin' in the Wind.' A mixed bag, but an intriguing look at how this ...

: :This three-decade anthology of Temptations hits tries to cover a lot of time in the short span of 11 cuts. In fact, after 1975 or so, the Temptations weren't so temptin' when it came to scoring major hits. True, the early part of the 1970s produced several major milestones--the gossamer 'Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me),' the dramatic 'Papa Was a Rollin' Stone,' and the psychedelic protest song 'Ball of Confusion'--and those cuts alone could pretty much justify the budget price of this set. The '80s are represented here by only two cuts, the disco-ish 'Treat Her Like a Lady' and 'Standing ...

: :You can consider the Supremes another 1960s supergroup on Motown, a label that boasted it was 'the sound of young America.' The Supremes always were dominated by the diva Diana Ross--even at Christmas. Fans should note, however, that the fantastic 'Silent Night,' a previously unreleased song, does feature Florence Ballard's lead vocal, a rare occasion when lady Di is not front and center. This updated version of the 1965 record includes its original 13 songs, plus 4 tunes not previously available in one set, including producer-songwriter Henry Fuqua's 'Just a Lonely Christmas.' Merry Christmas from the Supremes is rich with original songs by ...

Wimbledon: The 2004 Official Film features the championship runs of Roger Federerer and Maria Sharapova. While beating Andy Roddick was just another day at the office for the top-ranked Federerer, Russian teen Sharapova turned heads by offering a fresh new face on the women's tour, and it didn't hurt a bit that the face looked like that of a model--"Anna Kournikova with a title," she was quickly dubbed. Other moments of the fortnight captured here include Goran Ivanesevic's farewell, the scoring controversy that might have cost Venus Williams a match, and--because this is a British production--Tim Henman's latest attempt to keep the Wimbledon crown at home. At only 52 minutes, however, there's not a whole lot of time to devote to actual game footage, and the camera has a dizzying habit of cutting to a close-up of a player in the middle of a point, making it hard to follow the action. The short running time makes Wimbledon: The 2004 Official Film feel somewhat like a relic from the VHS days, but it certainly looks good in anamorphic widescreen. --David Horiuchi

The Olsen twins are turning 16, and they're celebrating with this collection of party games and, you guessed it, driving lessons. The good news is that if you can help them get past the obstacles and pass the test, they'll take you out with their new driver's licenses to a variety of fun minigame activities, like rock climbing, riding Jet Skis, surfing, ATV quad racing, and shopping for clothes. Earn points in the party games and spend them to upgrade the car and unlock cool tunes and cooler outfits.

It's not very often that a game aims to be fun and realistic while instilling a sense of personal involvement and responsibility. Mary-Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle does that within the theme of horseback riding. Players compete in such equestrian events as dressage, jumping, and cross-country, and learn the basics of caring for a horse. The game offers a practice mode, which lets riders master the controls and explore a course before entering events, and an adventure mode with large forest and island levels where players can play minigames or just simply explore.
