Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
Michael Bublé's assured debut and the tireless year of globe-trotting touring he spent promoting it elevated the 20-something Vancouver native into the first rank of pop crooner revivalists. His sophomore studio follow-up largely turns on the same formula that helped make his considerable vocal prowess so attractive to mainstream audiences, mixing the nigh flawless, if expected Sinatra-channeling ('I've Got You Under My Skin') with more playful and inviting renditions of pop standards like the Gershwin's 'A Foggy Day in London Town,' 'Feeling Good,' 'Try A Little Tenderness' and Cole Porter's 'I've Got You Under My Skin.' But it's the eclectic mix of more contemporary material the singer seasons them with -- apt tribute to Bublé hero Bobby Darin -- that keeps him walking the narrow tightrope between artistic intrigue (a blues-tinged vamp of Holland-Dozier-Holland's 'How Sweet It Is,' Leon Russell's lovely 'Song For You,' with a guest turn by Chris Botti) and the kitsch-laden abyss ('Quando, Quando, Quando''s Euro-centric duet with Nelly Furtado, a ring-a-ding-fling with the Beatles' 'Can't Buy Me Love' that echoes fellow Canadian crooner/rival Matt Dusk's more successful flirtation with Lennon-McCartney). Arranger/producer Tommy LiPuma offers Bublé a welcome swinging jazz showcase on 'The More I See of You,' a bracing respite from the rest of producer David Foster's slick, if typically bloodless MOR production. -- Jerry McCulley [Note: A special edition including two bonus tracks--'Dream a Little Dream' and 'Mack the Knife'--is also available.]

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * It's Time--Michael Buble ...
Michael Buble's remakes of various songs have invariably been successful. This CD is no exception. I highly recommend purchasing it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Great CD ...
Great CD by a great artist. I can't say anything bad about this CD.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Thank You, Sunday Morning ...
With so many reviews I am basically doing this to be able to rate the CD, which I gave five stars to. My sister had made me aware of a Sunday morning show hosted by Charles Osgood called Sunday Morning which usually features a singer or group each week. One Sunday it was Michael Buble and I decided I liked his style. I am not a Frank Sinatra fan, nor a Dean Martin, Paul Anka or Perry Como. I am a recent Guy Lombardo fan who awoke in me an interest in big band music which is a definite change of pace from the guitars, banjos and fiddles used in my favorite types of music -- folk and bluegrass. I was and always will be a Beatles' fan, so I chose this one for Can't Buy Me Love. I did recognize You Don't Know Me, Save the Last Dance For Me, and How Sweet It is. I played the disk and just let myself be enveloped in the sounds from trumpets and saxophones. What struck me from the start was how much it reminded me of the end song in the DVD Finding Nemo called Beyond the Sea with the feel of a lounge song. I enjoyed Buble's singing though I would not be able to compare it to similar style musicians as I don't listen to them. The tempo was soothing and exciting at the same time, and liked that he hadn't changed the sounds of the selections I was familiar with. Whether I will buy another of his CDs or not, I am very pleased with It's Time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * What a great cd!! ...
The music on this cd has made me a #1 fan of Michael Buble. His satin-smooth voice and great choice of songs make this cd a must-have for any music lover!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Love it! ...
I really love this artist! His voice is so smooth! A great album!

San Francisco filmmaker Ernie Fosselius made the most successful short film of all time in the 1978 Hardware Wars, an inspired, mock-trailer for a nonexistent, cheapo rip-off of Star Wars. It worked like this: instead of Chewbacca, Fosselius offers the Cookie Monster. Instead of Darth Vader's breathy, slightly echoed voice emerging somehow behind that black-mask helmet, we get a villain whose every ranting utterance is so muffled even this film's Princess Leia equivalent beseeches him, "What? I don't understand you." And so on. Part of the joke is that George Lucas's revolutionary special effects are supplanted by common kitchen gizmos--mixers, toasters--that serve as spaceships and weapons sources. The updated special edition contains 20 computer-generated "special defects" that don't--the distributor boasts--at all match Fosselius's earlier version. Um... right on? --Tom Keogh

It's Christmas in the tech noir slum of the post-apocalyptic future, and scrap-metal sculptor Stacey Travis gets a present she'll never forget. Scavenger boyfriend Dylan McDermott returns from the wastelands with the insectoid robot head of a killing machine. In no time it whirs to life and builds itself a gizmo-laden body out of handy appliances to continue its single-minded destruction of the human race, one warm body at a time. Director Richard Stanley, something of a scavenger himself, plunders everything from The Terminator, Blade Runner, and The Road Warriorto Short Circuit (the spidery construct resembles a demonic Number 5) for his violent flesh-vs.-metal survival thriller. Shot in sun-blasted orange and sweltering red, it's a triumph of style, set design, and grunge aesthetics over story, driven by a pounding techno score by Simon Boswell and punctuated by splattering gore. --Sean Axmaker
