Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Great Fun ...
I just finished watching this video. This is a very fun DVD really shows the band and highlights several of their best songs. After watching I really want to go see these guys the next time they are near my area. My only complaint is that the video is too short, I wanted it to go on for several more hours.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Love the band! ...
I love this band and have seen them live in concert many times. They are great performers and musicians. The only thing I think could have been better is the sound quality of this dvd. Not as clean as I think it should be. Otherwise, a great performance and song selection!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Great Fun & Great Music ...
I have been priveleged enough to see Gaelic Storm live at the House of Blues in Chicago now on 5 occassions. This band is the cream of the crop when it comes to live music. This DVD is able to capture some of the fun and energy that you can only experience in a live show. While it is not as much fun to watch as it was being there, down in the front, it provides you with the memories of the excitment or a look into the amazing talents and quality of their music.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - * I wanted to like it, but couldn't ...
I often like concert videos, and I usually like Irish music. But this one was a bit dull and, more importantly, the sound engineering was simply horrible. There is no excuse for not being able to hear pipes or drums that are clearly miked for the show. And, often, the sound did not synch well with the video. I'll trust the live show was a hoot, but translated very poorly into this video. I wanted to like it, but simply could not get into it.

If you want great concert DVD, try Ozomatli or U2 (Boston concert).

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * As Good As It Can Get!! ...
Since I "discovered" Gaelic Storm a bit over three years ago, I have made it a "must" to be in the crowd anytime this exciting and talented crew is anywhere in my area (West-Central Ohio). So I have been privileged to hear GS live 15 - 20 times.

Let me promise that the performance captured in Chicago on this DVD is the REAL THING. It captures the spirit, and the lively, and lovely, enthusiasm and driving Irish music that Gaelic Storm presents every time out! Watching that DVD in my living room (I wasn't in Chicago when it was recorded) frequently has me on my feet clapping (and yeah, sometimes even jumping up and down)with their amazing music. Gaelic Storm is the ONLY band that has the power to make me jump up and down since I was 17 - - - and I am now 72. The magic of their music ALWAYS draws me to the front of the stage with the teens (and some others)who comprise a most enthusiastic, yet gentle, mosh pit. I just cannot keep from jumping with the kids on such GS bell-ringers as "Courting in the Kitchen" or "The Hills of Connamara", or "Tell Me Ma", or "Beggarman" and so many others.
Yep, this DVD presents a true picture of the electric atmosphere that is generated by a Gaelic Storm concert. I wouldn't part with my copy for $100.

On her eighth studio album, Damita Jo--the title lifted from her middle name--Janet Jackson teams up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis once again on what is perhaps the most feverish album in her two decade long career. Whether she's taking the listener on a torrid excursion in the four song island suite, or boasting of her sexual prowess on "Sexhibition's" word games lyrics, where she tells fans "relax, it's just sex," the singer tries hard--maybe too hard--to establish herself as a sexual avatar with portfolio. But in "Strawberry Bounce," she seems more like a pole dancer in stilettos than a social revolutionary, as she catalogs the way she plans to make her inamorato lose control, and she just sounds silly on "Moist," which extols the female orgasm. Instead, the best moments on the album are when Jackson comes off as saucy and winsome instead of a heavy breather, like on the down-tempo "Thinkin' Bout My Ex," her collaboration with Babyface, which seems lifted right out of her autobiography, and on the athletic Prince clone "Just A Little While." The title track is Jackson's own version of J-Lo's "Jenny On the Block," and she sounds just as insincere as Lopez when she tried to convince us that she was just an ordinary neighborhood diva. Instead, Janet’s much more persuasive when she joins up with hip-hop savant Kanye West on "My Baby," pairing her breathy, little girl vocals to his sharp, focused rap. Then and only then does Damita Jo sound like love can actually trump sex. --Jaan Uhelszki
